SAILING IN DINGLE

Dingle Harbour is a fine sheltered harbour with plenty of room for dinghy sailing. Dingle Sailing Centre offers excellent ISA approved dinghy sailing courses for adults and children, the Centre also offers powerboat courses and "Splash Club" for younger children duing the summer. The Centre has a variety of boats such as Otimist, Topper, RS Feva, Laser 1, Laser 2, Laser Stratos Keel, Topaz, Drascombe Lugger, etc. The highlight of the courses for children is when they sail out to the mouth of the harbour to see Funghi the dolphin. The club also offers powerboat courses. For further information visit Dingle Sailing Centre. The club also have kayaks such as Sea Frenzys and Yaks for hire.

Dingle Sailing Club usually hold sailing sessions in the harbour on Sunday mornings between 11 am and 2 pm.

Windsurfing and surfing is offered by the Jamie Knox Centre at a variety of locations in Castlegregory, for all levels. Some speed sailors have achieved over 40 knots windsurfing in the waters off Castlegregory. Visit www.jamieknox.com.

Dingle Harbour has regularly hosted "La Solitaire du Figaro" sailing race in Dingle, where world class sailors take part in a single handed sailing race from France to Ireland. La Solitaire du Figaro 2010 will cover 1,717 nautical miles visiting the ports of Gijon in Spain and Kinsale in Ireland, and the French ports of Le Havre, Brest and Cherbourg-Octeville
